BioneXt LAB Coronavirus health crisis (COVID-19)

The purpose of CON-VINCE, the COvid-19 National survey for assessing VIral spread by Non-affected CarriErs conducted by the LIH (Luxembourg Institute of Health – www.lih.lu) in cooperation with the University of Luxembourg (www.uni.lu), the LCSB (Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine-www.lcsb.lu) and the IBBL (Integrated Biobank of Luxembourg – www.ibbl.lu)  is to understand the prevalence of the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV2) infection in the Luxembourgish population so as to assess:

• the psychological impact of the lockdown, and 
• the spread of the virus and the immune status (presence of antibodies) of citizens 

so as to define an exit strategy and a gradual lifting of the lockdown. 

As a partner in this study, the BioneXt LAB makes it human and technical resources available to test the participants who have been selected at the national level by the TNS-ILRES  institute (www.tns-ilres.com) and to conduct analyses. 

Have you been selected for this survey and received a questionnaire to complete with a voucher for the samples to be taken indicating the date and time of your appointment? 

1. You can go to the head office of the BioneXt LAB to undergo the procedure for your samples. 
2. You can call the Pickendoheem mobile service for a sampling at home if you are unable to travel.

Spermology is used to study male fertility. In men, the key examination is the spermogram, which evaluates the number and quality of spermatozoa in order to determine if medically assisted reproduction (MAR) should be considered. The BioneXt Lab Laboratory also provides semen preparations for intra-conjugal intrauterine insemination.

Trisomy is a genetic anomaly that is characterized by the presence of an extra chromosome in the cells of a fetus. The trisomy most frequently encountered in humans is trisomy 21, followed by trisomy’s 18 and 13.
The purpose of the NIPT test is to analyze fetal DNA circulating in the maternal blood by means of high throughput sequencing of DNA via NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) technology coupled with a powerful bioinformatics analysis. This method allows a detection rate of trisomy’s higher than 99% without risk for the fetus.

Fast, reliable and safe, the NIPT can detect trisomy’s 13, 18 and 21 with a simple sample of maternal blood and avoids the risk of miscarriage associated with invasive sampling.
